You Should Seriously Consider Using AI In Your Startup – An Analysis Of The Current AI Tools.
Someone out there is doing it and will probably end up with a superior product in ten years.
🕛 TLDR;
🚀 It’s going to transform from, “Oh, you’re using AI, that’s cool,” to “Of course we’re using AI.”
🧑🏻💻 A quick review of the available options right now.
✎ (For Paid Subscribers) My experience with using GPT to replace my business consultancy.
It’s going to happen faster than you think.
You might be thinking that you don’t need AI in your business right now.
You might be thinking deep inside that your job is currently irreplaceable.
You think your clients/users are not going for an AI option because of “quality.”
Think again. The world is shifting into an AI-dependent world. This means that your competitor out there who’s thinking of AI more than you might just make it happen.
It’s normal that people who get used to a certain style of work tend not to easily change (Old habits die hard?)
It took IBM years to accept change, and now they’re considered dinosaurs.
Meta refused change but purchased every threat coming their way.
The automotive world did not believe Tesla had what it takes. Now, Tesla is more valuable than any of them.
If you’re thinking that it might be the time to do this, then you’re right. If you’re thinking of procrastinating, let’s hope someone else isn’t prepping.
Now, let’s talk about your options.
The AI of our time.
There are probably many tools that I’m unaware of. Yet, let me give you a quick overview of the market right now from my perspective.
GPT — the market leader and the most used tool.
They started early. They made it freely available. Now, they’re enjoying the benefits.
If you want to use GPT, you’re in luck. OpenAI, the company that created GPT, has quite good documentation when it comes to this AI model. Meaning you can practically get someone to program it for you to do anything.
Let’s say you want to test the possibilities. I’d try their GPT builder. It just shows you the tip of the iceberg of what you can program your bot to do.
In general, the pricing of all the models discussed in this article is similar. It really really depends on the usage. There’s GPT-4, which is apparently the most expensive. I had to use it, for instance, when I was trying to send over 2000 words for GPT to process.
Claude — Google and Amazon’s bet.
Claude is made by Anthropic, and they have been in the market for a while as well. Their APIs are similar to OpenAI, but it feels like they’re not that deep into it like OpenAI.
You’ll find that the pricing of their model, Claude, is similar to GPT. The moment GPT releases a “faster” or a “cheaper” model, you’ll find that Claude is doing the same.
There’s a reason why Google and Amazon chose to invest in this startup. They think they have good potential. But time will tell.
Grok — Elon’s touch.
There’s still much to know about Grok in terms of APIs. They’re very new to the game. There’s one vision, though, in this AI model compared to the others. It sort of has fewer restrictions when it comes to speech. It’s more of an open-minded and sarcastic bot.
You’ll have to try it to assess it. But I’d give them a few months to grow into a stable version and release their APIs.
Microsoft copilot — Tailored for Microsoft.
At the moment, it seems like Microsoft took ChatGPT and just squeezed it into Microsoft. So they’re making it fit all their programs. I wouldn’t think they’ll release many APIs because Copilot is simply GPT.
However, they do have options for creating your own copilot, which could be very cool. So, if you’re thinking of GPT + Microsoft products for your startup, check out the copilot options.
Google Bard & Meta’s LLaMA2
Both of those companies have APIs as well. Bard might be a bit late or in beta mode. So, I’d wait for Google Gemini. Meta’s is also available. But I’d think of them in the end because they haven’t really shown a strong use case or gotten enough publicity and trials.
After much thinking, I’m replacing what I do with AI.
Honestly, for consultants, GPT-4 releases awful material. For example, if we’re looking to create an investor presentation, whatever GPT will release is below average.
So, part of me thinks that as a business consultant, I’ll always be in demand. However, that’s just my inner fear of accepting what’s coming up.
AI will evolve. GPT, or others, will eventually release good investment material. My theory is that for the next ten years, they’ll learn. So, who’ll be on top for this period? Whoever uses the sweet spot between AI and human effort.
In other words, human-powered AI platforms. Let me share with you how I’m using GPT-4 to evolve my business consultancy.
