Temu's Growth Should Teach You One Thing – Traditional Marketing Still Works.
It's like those super broom ads you saw on old TVs.
Temu spending $2 billion on Instagram and Facebook ads sounds unreal. For every 3 US shoppers, one of them shopped at Temu. This is unbelievable, but it was a must to get into the game of the giants (or, more like, giant.)
TLDR;
Temu
Amazon & TikTok
The Future
Temu
Temu has notably distinguished itself by adopting a strategy that feels refreshingly genuine, especially in an era often captivated by words like AI, blockchain, and cryptocurrency.
Their focus? The everyday Instagram user – acknowledging the simple fact that we are, fundamentally, human.
By presenting an array of products that range from the essential to the weird, Temu has invested in creativity and innovation.
Some of their offerings might seem unusual at first glance, yet they is intrigue every time a Temu advertisement appears in my feed, showcasing products that makes me curious.
Amazon & TikTok
The financial commitment Temu has made to their marketing efforts is astonishing, yet it doesn't automatically spell success.
Their aggressive spending could be interpreted as an attempt to carve out a significant presence in a market predominantly dominated by giants like Amazon.
E-commerce is, and has long been, Amazon's realm. If Temu spent $2b on ads, Amazon spent $20 billion last year. But here’s the thing – TikTok ventured into a similar concept as Temu but with limited success.
Temu, however, has cleverly applied the essence of TikTok's e-commerce strategy to Instagram, tailoring their approach to this specific audience with notable effectiveness.
The Future
Based on their current trajectory, it seems reasonable to anticipate ongoing growth for Temu.
Their commitment to understanding and engaging with the human aspect of their audience, combined with a strategic marketing approach that prioritizes genuine, interesting products over the latest tech jargon, sets them apart.
If Temu continues on this path, emphasizing the value of human connection and the appeal of inventive products, its future in the competitive landscape of e-commerce appears promising.
But this world has shown us one thing – Politics hit when we don’t think it will. I’m expecting Temu to face the same exact, if not worse, regulation that TikTok faced.
Only the future will tell.
