Steve Jobs always said one thing: keep it closed. The consumers don't really know what they want until we show them. You know all of this.
What's going on with Apple nowadays, in case you're not aware, is that they're forced to launch in Europe a different device than the one in the US or the Americas. This is directly against the teachings of Steve Jobs, per se.
If you have a version in Europe, you could actually download a new app store other than the official iOS app store and play Fortnite, for example. And that's merely the beginning. The options are extremely open at this stage.
The Shift from Steve Jobs' Mentality
Now let me tell you why getting out of Steve Jobs' mentality and teachings is not actually a bad thing. For the past 10 or 12 years, iPhones and Apple have been very much replicating what they're doing.
The iPhone 12 is pretty much the same as the iPhone 15 in terms of the base core device. The changes are design, colours and enhancements when it comes to hardware and speed of software. But the core of the device is the same.
This statement is a problem by itself.
The fact that Apple has not been changing their devices for a very long time, the fact that they have been following Steve Jobs' teaching for over 10 years, is the problem.
I believe that if Jobs was running the company right now, he would have innovated in the devices that Apple is producing. They would have never reached the level that they are in right now, which is being forced to change their devices by EU laws and regulations. They are also being forced to enter the AI market by creating Apple intelligence due to consumer demand.
Tim Cook's Suitability for Current Challenges
Yes, Steve Jobs would have probably not been happy about the fact that the EU was forcing Apple to release a different phone. I wrote an article before about how Tim Cook is better suited for this position nowadays compared to Steve Jobs.
This is a perfect example. What the company needs right now is exceptional operational execution. Tim Cook excels at that.
Right now, they are going to face problems with their financial sheets in Europe, as well as the fact that they are trying to convince people to retain the iPhone with Apple's intelligence.
This sort of marketing and financial challenge has proven to be the key areas of Tim Cook as a CEO. He has been performing very well in this sense and will continue to in the upcoming few years.
Apple is not in the best position when it comes to being the most valuable company in the world. But in order to pull it off and retain the top, they need someone with a mentality like Tim Cook to keep them going in the right direction.
So let's sit and watch how Apple goes through this challenge. Whether they pass it or fail it, it's going to be an entrepreneurial lesson for the world.
