41% of Companies Will Lay Off Workers for AI—Only to Be Replaced Themselves
AI that handles customer service is great unless your company handles customer service.

You often hear that AI is making it lucrative for businesses to layoff people. 41% of companies plan to reduce workforces by 2030 because of AI, according to CNN.
That’s a huge percentage. But here’s the thing. They won’t sleep like babies afterwards. AI will replace those employees. But eventually, it will replace companies.
The difference between a team member and a company is small.
A team member provides a service for a company.
A company provides a service for another company.
What artificial intelligence is doing, is that it’s providing a service. The core aspect of this threatens companies as well.
So if 41% of team members are going to be laid off, a similar percentage of companies will go bankrupt.
It is easy to be scared
Think about it — AI is going to take over all the jobs.
You might get laid off.
You might not be able to land a new job or earn whatsoever.
You might go bankrupt.
It’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole. But whenever you’re having these thoughts, always jump back 42 years in time.
The internet was just being invented.
People were going to get laid off.
People thought they might go bankrupt.
But what happened was that… people changed. They learned how to use this tech. If you were a developer in the 80’s, then you were lucky because you’re starting a new tech revolution. But if you were not, you just needed to learn how to use some things.
Yes, companies will keep on laying off employees.
Since 2022, around 600,000 people were laid off by tech companies. Scary, isn’t it?
The reality though is that we often react to negative news like a hurricane is coming compared to a person saving a cat.
Since 2019, just 10 of the largest tech companies hired more than 875,000 employees.
Yes, layoffs are happening. But companies won’t end up sitting around while AI does all the work. AI has always been, and will always be, a non sentient tool that needs navigation.
Put ChatGPT in a room, and what will it do? Absolutely nothing.
Put a team member in a room, and what will they do? Absolutely anything.
The AI frenzy has already peaked. It’s now time to learn to use those tools. Rather than read this article and move on, commit and get a book to read. I always think of this as the perfect first step.
