1 Month to Apply to YC – Stripe ($50b), Airbnb ($93b), & Coinbase ($20b) Were in Y Combinator.
A client once asked me to help him in his YC application; So I did my research – here's what you have to know.
⏱️ Too lazy to read for 4 minutes? Here’s the TLDR Summary:
🇾 Y Combinator, the accelerator that invested in the likes of Stripe and Airbnb, will close the applications for their upcoming batch in a month.
🙋 I’ve had a client who asked me to help him with his YC application.
📋 A few rules and guides to follow.
❓ Should you apply? Go for the why not moment.
Over a hundred clients - that’s how many entrepreneurs approached me to ask for a pitch deck, business plan, or a white paper. I think I’ve seen it all (but I always get surprised)
People who asked for business plans in the porn industry.
The tens of crypto startups that were trying to scam people.
Clients with businesses that raised over $120 million.
A new Tinder, a new Coinbase, a new Stripe, many new Lime’s.
Oh, and me refusing a client with a steak restaurant because I’m vegetarian.
There’s nothing more satisfying than working in this world of entrepreneurship. That reminds me of a client that I had a while back who asked for my help to apply to a YC batch. Hence, I had to do extensive research before he applied.
Here’s what you should know.
Well, let‘s start with the formalities:
The deadline for on-time applications is October 13.
The batch will take place in person in San Francisco.
They invest $500,000 in every company based on some terms.
If your tap dancing course is occupying you till October 13th, then you can apply a batch later.
Also, don‘t tell me that you can‘t go in person to SF to attend the accelerator‘s program. That’s unbelievable; I mean, how could you not be available to leave everything behind and spend 3 months in another city, or most probably, country? Come on, be flexible.
Sarcasm put aside; I did have a client a while back who asked for my help in his YC application. At that time, they didn‘t require a pitch deck; it was merely a text application with tons of questions.
After reviewing every single question and monitoring YC for quite a long time, I started to conclude vital elements when it came to the application process. Here goes.
